About 4 months ago, we came together to Hustle in honor of Sandra’s husband, Glenn Holland. So many of you showed up to support Sandra and Glenn... and so many of you represented Glenn’s fight in your WHITE! Surrounded by friends and family, we HUSTLED! During this donation class, Glenn set a goal for himself: On the 1 year anniversary of his journey fighting Stage IIIA Lung Cancer, he would be at Hustle to take his first class. Along with the support of his beautiful family and friends as well as incredible medical team, Glenn’s unwavering positivity and determination have no doubt helped bring him to where he is today: NED: No Evidence of Disease.
And to begin this new chapter, Glenn made good on his promise... February 28th, 6am, Glenn hustled for the first time! We are all so proud of this huge accomplishment. Glenn worked hard, he paced himself and did an awesome job! We are excited for your next class! And Sandra- what an amazing partner you are!
Many of you know Sandra from class. You’ve run next to her on the treadmill, you’ve watched her opt for the more challenging weights, and you may have even heard that beautiful Irish accent! She hustles hard always and motivates many as she pushes herself throughout every class at Hustle! But what you might not know is that outside of class, Sandra is facing one of her life’s biggest challenges: caretaker of Glenn as he grows stronger after Stage IIIA Lung Cancer. He has undergone a lobectomy and lymph node removal, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. The goal is to be cured in 5 years. A heavy list of procedures but Glenn is facing this head on and with an inspiring attitude! If you haven’t met Glenn, “a 48 year young family man and lover of continuous improvement”, a few of his own personal quotes (including that one!) give you an idea of both his bravery and his resolve in the midst of this journey!: •”Name: Glenn Holland Game: Killing my cancer Fame: Positivity Guru” •”I do not fear dying. I do fear not living”. •”Be humble as one and some day you may move many”.
As caregiver, Sandra is currently on unpaid personal leave so that she can be home to care for Glenn as well as to continue to run their household. Her Hustle workouts have not only been a much-needed quick break as caregiver but they’ve also given her the strength and focus to be the best caregiver possible! And we are thrilled that Glenn is now well enough to join her! You can continue to follow Glenn’s journey here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/geemoneesthebuzzlog/
